My sister Jeannette and I typically dine our way through chit-chats and small adventures together and this trip was no different.

Before arriving Jeannette requested we make sweet treats and have a tea party together. Lulu (Xerxes’ Mom) recently took a job at the Corner Cupboard Tea House, which is nearby and that seemed the perfect substitute to doing the whole thing ourselves especially since her visit is relatively brief.

When we woke up in the morning, though, we did make a sweet treat of Plum Kuchen which is a family classic. My parent’s have an Italian Prune Plum tree. While plums aren’t my favorite fruit, the Italian Prune Plums are one of my top favorite fruits of all time. I am hoping to plant a tree of them one of these days I love them that much.

I make a kuchen with a bit of almond meal to make it a little lower-glycemic with a bit extra flavor. Heavenly!

The three of us whipped it up together and it had barely cooled when we dug in. Minutes after devouring most of the kuchen we headed to Lulu’s Tea House.

We  started with a Velvet Tea that was Rooibos based and shared the pot of tea. Part of the charm is you can choose your own sweet antique tea cup & saucer. Then we ordered Chicken Salad Sandwich on a Croissant and a Spinach & Goat Cheese Quiche to share. Both of them came with lovely green salads. Juliette ordered fruit with Mac n Cheese. The Chicken Salad was similar to my Sonoma Chicken Salad I made last week. The quiche was also nice with tons of greens and a goat cheese-y flavor.

We finished our meal with a Maple Pecan Scone and Blueberry Scone with Creme Fraiche and Lemon Curd. We also decided to try a second tea: the Happy Tea.

Lulu did a great job serving us! Juliette loved the whole experience, especially having her Lulu there. I can’t wait to go back for the full tea and I hope to bring some of Juliette’s little girlfriends. Maybe around the holiday’s we could do a Christmas Tea Party.

Then we ran home, picked up Xerxes and headed up to Boulder to meet Gaby’s cousins who have a three year old and a baby on the way. They have a beautiful home on Pearl Street, close to a creek and the foothills.

The kids hit it off quickly and after playing for a while they sat down to lemon-water in teacups with pears. Juliette was very happy for her second tea party of the day.

Then we took the kids on their bikes and headed up to the creek where we splashed around in the water up to our knees. It was a gorgeous spot, perfect weather and incredible company.

When we returned it was clearly dinner time, so we decided to stay close to home and ordered Nepalese from Sherpas in Boulder. The food from Nepal is tastiness around this area and again sitting on the floor of their small table was just a perfect way to end our evening.

Gaby and Jeannette came back with us and then we chit-chatted until way too late. Which is why this is a good-morning post, rather than good-night!

xoxo,

Lilly
